"After my son's ASD diagnosis I found that I went out less and found family days out stressful. A friend took me to a Daytrippers outing and I found the group friendly and welcoming. Knowing others had been in my shoes had an instant impact making the day less stressful. Since then the members of the Daytippers have become true friends. there is a true feeling of family to the group."
"I didn't want to tell M about the place prior to going as I knew shed get distressed and be adamant she wasn't going. I chose to tell her an hour before leaving and as I expected she howled and sobbed that she didn't want to do anything. I explained that if she didn't want to do anything she could just say "no thank you!" and it would be fine. We got there and straight away she got stuck in, joining in with the activities on the floor. We had a short break and then it was time for getting into helmets and harnesses for the high activities. M decided she wanted to go on the giant swing. She hates heights usually but when they hoisted her up she was shouting "higher, higher!" and she totally loved swinging so high. This is an activity I'd never have thought to try with her, knowing what she's like and also the expense involved - I don't like to pay a lot to find she doesn't want to take part. Without Daytrippers we'd never have had the opportunity to try this kind of place and because M took herself out of her comfort zone so much I know today is a memory that will always stick, she'll never forget that! In the swing photo she's screaming 'higher!' "
"We've just been bowling with Daytrippers. We joined a group that we didn't know many people in but still had a fun time and got to know a few new faces. We don't normally do the bowling trip as its teamed with pizza hut, the little one is not a pizza eater but I am. So we agreed we'd take McDonald's into pizza hut, it's the first time I'd even think to do that and probably wouldn't without the group support. We enjoyed a meal together and the little one enjoyed the extras of ice cream and pop. Thanks for the fun morning"
